Aldi Opening In Wayne Grocery shoppers in Wayne will have another place to peruse the aisles. Aldi, a German supermarket chain, will be opening at the Plaza Square Shopping Center at 625 Hamburg Turnpike in the township, according to Regency Centers, which owns the shopping center.  The store will be 42,816 square feet, according to Regency Centers. An opening date has not been announced. Tenants at Plaza Square include a Wendy's and a T-Mobile. Aldi's has 61 locations in the Garden State, according to its website.

Khalif Johnson, 21, tried to flee a stop on Hamburg Turnpike near Ratzer Road in Wayne around 10 a.m. Monday, April 11, but officers seized him following a brief struggle, Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik said. They charged Johnson with resisting arrest and issued several motor vehicle summonses before turning him over to Haledon police, who released him pending further court action, the sheriff said.
