These 27 NJ Boston Market Stores Have Reopened After Failing To Pay 314 Workers
The 27 Boston Market stores in New Jersey that were issued stop work orders last month for failing to pay hundreds of employees have reopened. It gets better, the workers have been compensated. The chicken chain became the center of an investigation by the state's labor department when East Hanover employee Cathy Grimes reported that she and the dozen workers she managed hadn't been paid for two months, the DOL said. No serious injuries were reported when a small school bus carrying a group of high schoolers slid into a utility pole in Hackensack during an icy morning filled with crashes throughout North Jersey. The 14-passenger bus was headed south on Hackensack Avenue to the nearby Bergen County Academies when it slid partially off the road in front of Hackensack Cemetery and side-swiped the pole at 7:10 a.m., said Police Capt. Six children, the driver and an aide from the Windsor Academy in Ridgewood were aboard the bus when it was involved in a crash with a private vehicle on the eastbound highway in Teaneck near the Hackensack border around 3 p.m. Wednesday, Bergen County Sheriff's Public Information Officer Keisha J. SUV Rolls Into Hackensack Auto Shop In Cut-Off Crash, Customer Hit By Flying Glass
An SUV slammed into the front of an auto shop in Hackensack after the driver cut off another motorist, authorities said. The 67-year-old Honda Pilot driver made a right turn from University Plaza onto River Street, cutting off a 2008 Nissan Altima that was headed south from Hackensack Avenue, around 9 a.m. Tuesday, Capt. Nicole Foley said. The Altima, driven by a 76-year-old River Edge man, clipped the rear bumper of the Pilot, Foley said. Hackensack Woman, 19, Charged With Killing Newborn Boy
Authorities charged a Hackensack woman with killing her newborn son. Kimberly Aponte, 19, hid the unwanted pregnancy from her family, authorities said. Aponte gave birth before dawn Saturday to a full-term boy whom she then wrapped in a towel and stuffed into a hamper, they said. Aponte's father called city police to the family's Hackensack Avenue apartment Saturday afternoon, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. There, the officers found the lifeless child, he said. A van landed on its side after colliding with an SUV at a busy Hackensack intersection early Tuesday evening. The drivers sustained minor injuries following the crash at Hackensack Avenue and University Plaza Drive just after 5 p.m., police said. All got out safely.

Diana Pelayo, 33, of Bergenfield, and Huishan Li, 63, were killed in the 6:43 p.m. crash on Hackensack Avenue near Terhune Place on Saturday, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. Two other passengers -- a 30-year-old woman from Fairview and a 38-year-old man from River Edge were treated for minor injuries at Hackensack University Medical Center, the prosecutor said.
