Darren Drozdov, a professional wrestler and former NFL player nicknamed "Puke" for vomiting on the ball, died on Friday, June 30. He was 54 years old. Darren, of Hamilton, NJ, grew up playing football as a quarterback in Mays Landing and was All-State in football at Oakcrest High School. He went on to play college football at the University of Maryland, graduating with a degree in criminal justice. Football Players Needed For FX Series Filming In North Jersey
An FX series filming in North Jersey is seeking men to play football players. Actors for "Gladiator" will make up for $165 for up to 10 hours of work, and possibly then overtime, in Union on Tuesday, June 27. Former HS Football Player Shot Dead In Newark
A former high school football player was shot and killed in a vehicle Wednesday night, May 3 in Newark. Jayden Jarvis, 20, of East Orange, was found suffering from gunshot wounds in his crashed vehicle on the 2000 block of 4th Street in Newark around 9:45 p.m., Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II said. Former Lyndhurst High School Varsity Football Captain Nick Cimicata died on Thursday, March 16. He was 20 years old. Nick played basketball and football at Lyndhurst High School (Class of 2021), where he was also the vice president of Future Business Leaders of America, his obituary says. Affectionately known as "Nicky Blue," he also served as the coach of Savino's in the township's Little League program, and as a 10U travel coach. Former Rutgers football player Ryan Keeler, who transferred to UNLV last year, died Monday in Las Vegas, both schools announced. Keeler, 20, was a member of the Scarlet Knights’ 2021 recruiting class. A cause of death has not been reported. A 12-year-old boy was flown to a nearby hospital after suffering a hip injury at a football field in Sussex County, state police confirmed.
