Weehawken Opened $10.5M Pool To Public But Might Still Be Violating Green Acres Policy: Report
Weehawken's beautiful $10.5 million swimming pool has been opened to out-of-towners. The Department of Environmental Protection apparently told officials that had to open the pool to non-residents as keeping it closed to residents-only was in violation of DEP rules, as the pool was Green Acres-funded, NJ Advance Media reports. The DEP did not immediately return Daily Voice's request for comment placed Friday, Aug. 5. While swimming is open to visitors between 9:30 a.m. and 12 noon — which must be scheduled ahead of time for non-residents — the township may still be violating Green Acre…

Not Funny: Joe Pesci Clashes With Jersey Shore Neighbors Over Long Docks
Joe Pesci thinks some of his Jersey Shore neighbors have taken things too far. Their docks, for instance. The Ocean County resident has joined a neighborhood fight against two Lavallette property owners' applications for 315-foot docks -- more than twice the length of his own. Pesci, 76, says the standard 125-foot dock behind his $6.5 million mansion juts out just far enough at 91 Pershing Blvd. In a letter to Department of Environmental Protection officials, the Oscar-winner argued that doubling the length of docks will block Barnegat Bay views enjoyed by neighbors, and create…

New Jersey Giving Away Thousands Of Tree Seedlings
Looking to add some greenery to your surroundings? The state Department of Environmental Protection would like to help. From now through May 5, state residents can receive up to five free tree seedlings suitable for planting. Proof of residency is required, and the particular species of tree a resident can receive will depend on where they live. In North Jersey, for instance, residents will get either black oak or persimmon, species that would thrive in that part of the state, the DEP said. The seedling giveaway is an annual program begun following 2012's Superstorm Sandy, …
