Union County Chef Appearing On 'Beat Bobby Flay'
Does pastry chef Joe Murphy have what it takes? We'll find out Thursday evening, Sept. 7. Murphy, who lives in Scotch Plains and runs Bakehouse by Joe Murphy in New Providence, will be appearing on "Beat Bobby Flay" on the Food Network at 9 p.m. On "Beat Bobby Flay" two contestants face off, cooking a dish for 20 minutes using a secret ingredient chosen by Flay. A popular North Jersey restaurateur who broke into the industry as a dish-washer is expanding his pasta and sandwich shop — this time with a twist. Michael Carrino's "Mike’s Pasta and Sandwich Shoppe" in Nutley will transform into Mike’s Pasta Shoppe for its upcoming Park Avenue location in East Rutherford, BoozyBurbs reports. Beloved Sussex County HS Senior, Aspiring Chef Kyle Porzuelo Dies After Leukemia Battle, 18
Beloved Sussex County high school senior and aspiring chef Henri 'Kyle' Porzuelo died at Morristown Medical Center on Monday, Feb. 7 after a valiant battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was 18. Born in Newton, Porzuelo grew up in Andover Township, his obituary says. Porzuelo was months away from finishing his senior year at Newton High School. He was an aspiring chef planning to attend the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park.
