Newark Man, 18, Stole 9 Cars From North Jersey Dealership: Prosecutor
A Newark man was slapped with a slew of theft and burglary charges after stealing a total of nine cars from a Morris County auto dealership, authorities said.
Ahjhir Jones, 18, is accused of stealing the vehicles from GT Motors in Morristown August 6, 2021, Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll said Monday.
He was identified via surveillance footage and fingerprinting, Carroll said.
Jones was taken into custody Jan. 19 and charged with conspiracy to commit theft, theft by unlawful taking, conspiracy to commit burglary, burglary, criminal mischief and unlawful means of conveyance.

A woman from Florida was charged with arson in the fire that destroyed a historic mansion and former psychiatric hospital in New Jersey, authorities said.
Evelyn V. Alvino, 20, of Pinellas Park, FL, was charged with aggravated arson, burglary, criminal trespassing, and criminal mischief after an 18-month investigation into the fire, NJ State Police said.

Police: Repeat Offender From Westwood Nabbed After Stealing Dog, iPad In Washington Township
A 21-year-old repeat offender from Westwood broke into a Washington Township woman's home, then stole her dog and an iPad, authorities said.
Township detectives nabbed Jordan David Dufont a short time later after pinging his phone, Capt. John Calamari said.
Dufont had gone to his on-again, off-again girlfriend's home on Hickory Street, broke in by smashing a back window and was confronted by the victim, Calamari said.
He then fled with her mixed-breed dog and iPad, the captain said.
