Ex-Hudson County Man Charged With Insurance Fraud Over $27K Diamond Ring
A 44-year-old Connecticut man formerly of Hudson County was arrested for filing a bogus insurance claim on a diamond ring valued at $27,000, authorities said. Duke Quarshie, of Norwalk, CT, was issued a payment from Assurant Insurance Company in 2016 for a claim regarding the ring, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. On June 2, 2021, Quarshie was living in North Bergen when filed a second claim for the same piece of jewelry. A stolen car thief was caught by Palisades Interstate Parkway police after back-to-back crashes near the George Washington Bridge, authorities said. A 55-year-old Paterson man used a Connecticut victim's information to buy himself a $47,905 Rolex watch in New York City, authorities said. Douglas Cantey has been wanted by police since May, when the victim told police he'd gotten a UPS delivery of an empty Rolex watch that he didn't purchase, the Darien Police Department said. A Newark woman is facing charges for her alleged role in stealing a sports car valued at over $200,000 from a Connecticut home.
