The new officers were funded through a $3.75 million grant in the COPS Hiring Program. The school resource officers were assigned to their new schools on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Teaneck police seized four out-of-town teens -- one of them an underage boy who they said was carrying a loaded gun, a high-capacity magazine and hollow-point bullets -- after flooding local streets following a 14-vehicle burglary spree. A vehicle also had been stolen from a Cedar Lane residence before being abandoned in Hackensack during the spree, police said. Mahwah police captured a trio of overnight car burglars from Pascack Valley thanks to an alert patrol officer and several residents, authorities said.
