Anthony Ambrose, who has a lengthy career in law enforcement in Essex County, accidentally shot himself with another person's gun on Friday, March 22, police said. Responding to many unanswered questions about the shooting, Cedar Grove police issued a news release laying out what happened to Ambrose at 2 Village Park Road, where Ambrose keeps an office as a private investigator. A phlebotomist is suing the City of Newark and Newark Police, alleging they wrongfully arrested her and filmed her changing on their body cameras after she was stabbed in the face by a patient. The lawsuit was filed in March in New Jersey Superior Court, Essex County. Veteran Newark police officer Hector Moya died of COVID-19 complications Wednesday, Jan. 13, officials announced. He was 55 years old. Moya joined the Newark Police Division in March 1998.
