New Union City Bus Garage, Terminal Moving Forward: NJ Transit
NJ Transit is moving forward with plans for a new bus garage and terminal in Union City after being approved by NJ Transit's Board of Directors. The project, which has entered the design phase, will be a state-of-the-art bus facility to store and charge electric buses and be a service facility for bus cleaning, maintenance and inspection, along with a terminal for passengers, NJ Transit said. HDR Inc., a Newark-based firm, will be in charge of designing, engineering and providing construction services for the $92.3 million bus terminal. Fight Broke Out Before Double Stabbing That Left Union City Boy Dead: Prosecutor
Authorities have release preliminary details in a double stabbing that left a teen boy dead and another seriously hurt in Union City this week. Five teens were involved in a fight at 40th Street and Bergenline Avenue around 6:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Allen Flores, 15, of Union City, and a 16-year-old boy were each stabbed and hospitalized. Flores was pronounced dead at Christ Hospital in Jersey City. UPDATE: A commuter bus and four other vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction crash that jammed rush-hour traffic into and out of the Lincoln Tunnel. A 58-year-old stabbing suspect was hospitalized after being shot by police responding to the incident in Hudson County July Fourth, police said. Jesus Suazo hurt the victim during an argument before police were flagged down on 23rd Street and Bergenline Avenue in Union City around 7:50 p.m., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Three Jersey City men were arrested Tuesday shortly after police say they robbed a Union City bank. A man entered Valley National Bank at 4405 Bergenline Ave. around 11 a.m. and handed a teller a note demanding cash, according to police. He left with about $10,000.
