Unlicensed Driver, 25, Wanted In Deadly Fourth Of July Crash On Route 287: Prosecutor
A 25-year-old New York woman has been named "Fugitive of the Month" in one New Jersey county. Angely Betancourt has been charged with reckless death by auto and causing death while driving unlicensed in the July 4, 2022 crash that left one person dead on Route 287 southbound access ramp to Route 78 west in Bedminster, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said. The crash, which happened just before 12:25 p.m., was investigated by New Jersey State Police. The department did not immediately return Daily Voice's request for comment.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for all of New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania to close out Memorial Day. The NWS said tornadoes, heavy rain, and wind gusts up to 65 mph were possible through 9 p.m. The first round of storms came early Monday morning, May 27. The USGS is reporting 23 aftershocks in the 23 hours since the New Jersey earthquake that rattled the Northeast. The initial earthquake had a magnitude of 4.8 and was reported in Whitehouse Station at 10:23 a.m. Friday, April 5. Tremors were felt by more than four million people from Maryland to New Hampshire. Driver Airlifted When Tractor Trailer Overturns On Route 78
The driver of a tractor trailer was airlifted to the hospital after he lost control of his tractor trailer overturned on Route 78 earlier this week. The driver apparently lost control of the vehicle on the westbound side near milepost 28.5 in Bedminster around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Philip Curry said. Despite suffering only minor injuries, the driver was flown to Morristown Medical Center, Curry said. The right and center lanes of the highway were closed for five hours. The crash remains under investigation.

24-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Car On Route 287
A 24-year-old man was struck and killed by a car while on Route 287 in Bedminster early Sunday, Jan. 30, authorities said. Juan S. Gonzalez-Genchi, of Somerset, was in the roadway on the southbound side when he was struck by a Mazda passenger car near milepost 22.4 around 4:20 a.m., New Jersey State Police Trooper Charles Marchan said. Gonzalez-Genchi was pronounced dead at the scene in Bedminster. The crash remains under investigation and there was no additional information available.

State Police: Box Truck Overturns, Spills Tires, Debris Across Route 78
Route 78 eastbound was shut down for more than three hours Tuesday morning after a box truck overturned and spilled tires and debris all over the roadway, state police said. The truck overturned near milepost 29.8 between Lebanon and Bedminster, causing the tires and debris inside to spill onto the road shortly before 6:30 a.m., NJSP Sgt. Lawrence Peele said. The driver was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Peele said. All lanes were re-opened around 9:30 a.m., Peele said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

A New Brunswick man is accused of providing a woman with the cocktail of drugs including fentanyl and cocaine that killed her last January, authorities said Wednesday. Lashawn D. Murphy's Restrictions Partially Close Trump's Bedminster Golf Course
COVID-19 concerns have prompted President Trump to cease most operations at his golf club in Bedminster, reports say. The facility’s clubhouse and gym, as well as its restaurants, are closed until further notice, General Manager David Schutzenhofer told the Washington Post. Murphy’s measures include limiting restaurants to take-out, delivery or drive-thru options and restricting gatherings of more than 50 people.
