Crews had most of the fire at the Alden Leeds plant on Jacobus Avenue knocked down by 9:50 p.m., local police said. Jersey City's Hazardous Materials Unit was on scene as well. Kearny Chlorine Plant Fire Shuts Skyway, Residents Told To Stay Indoors UPDATE: The fire was brought under control Saturday morning after reaching four alarms.  The Pulaski Skyway in Kearny was closed in both directions after a manufacturing  plant went up in flames, stranding drivers on the roadway Friday night. The blaze, which hit at least three alarms overnight, broke out around 10 p.m. at the Alden Leeds plant, located on Jacobus Avenue under the skyway.
