North Bergen police were sent to the Fountain Motel on Paterson Plank Road around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday on a report of a sexual assault. The prosecutor's Special Victims Unit was also notified.
Carlos Gonzalez, 46, was arrested the next day and charged with sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal sexual contact.
The prosecutor's office has asked the court for permission to hold Gonzalez before trial. He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
