Marquise Brown, 26, will be about 90 years old when he's eligible for parole under the No Early Release Act, which requires him to serve a minimum of 85 percent of his sentence.
Brown was previously found guilty of killing Amir Pleasant, 20, on April 29, 2017. Pleasant was sitting in his parked car on Dwight Street when Brown approached and opened fire. Pleasant drove off and crashed a few blocks away, where police found him unconscious. He was pronounced dead at Jersey City Medical Center.
Two other city men have also been found guilty in connection with Pleasant's murder. Rashad Exum, 26, was sentenced to 20 years for conspiracy to commit murder and must serve at least 17 years before he's eligible for parole.
Jahi Beatty, 21, was found guilty of two counts of hindering apprehension or prosecution and is scheduled to be sentenced next month.
