Police received numerous complaints from residents in the North End section about burglaries occurring late Sunday night and early Monday morning, Miller said. Taken were jewelry, money, cigarettes and keys, among other items.
In one instance, a garage door opener was taken from an unlocked vehicle and another vehicle parked inside the garage, on Elizabeth Court, was also burglarized.
Officer Jude Masullo was patrolling the area of Radio Avenue around 1:30 a.m when he noticed a suspicious couple in an area where some of the burglaries had been reported. Masullo questioned the two -- Nicholas Sessa of Wildwood and Samantha Flick of Edison, both 18 -- and noticed they were in possession of some of the stolen items, Miller said.
Following an investigation, Flick and Sessa were charged with nine vehicle burglaries and the burglary of the garage.
The two were also charged with theft, receiving stolen property and conspiracy. They were being held at the Hudson County Jail.
