Albert A. Ayala, 34, of Guttenberg, is believed to have acted as the lookout while another man, who police have not identified, went into the home at 68th Street and Hudson Avenue while the victims slept in a locked bedroom on Friday, Sept. 22, Guttenberg Deputy Police Chief Frank Pelaez said.

Video surveillance footage from inside of her apartment shows a man walking through the victim's apartment and taking various belongings, valued over $3,500, Pelaez said.

"Officers and detectives discovered that while one suspect was inside of the victim’s apartment, a second was outside of the victim’s building, acting as a lookout," police said "Once the first suspect exited the apartment building, he and suspect two are observed meeting and walking into West New York."

Ayala was identified as Suspect No. 2, and charged with receiving stolen property, conspiracy to commit burglary, and conspiracy to commit theft. He was lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center.

Police are working to arrest the other suspect.
