A 22-year-old Jersey City woman was arrested for assaulting a police officer on Sunday, Feb. 19, after she refused to leave the premises of her former job in Bayonne, authorities said.
At 2:57 p.m., officers were called to an area business at 33rd Street and Broadway and saw Tianna Johnson screaming at her former employer, Bayonne police said. Officers approached Johnson and escorted her away from her now ex-boss, telling her to leave and that she was not permitted there anymore, police said.
While they were leaving, Johnson knocked over items that were positioned on the employer's desk and refused to comply with police commands to exit, officers said. Johnson then proceeded to retreat back into the office and position herself in the corner, police said.
As an officer attempted to gather her belongings that she dropped on the floor, Johnson began punching him, striking him with her knee and attempting to push past him, police said. Police were able to take her to the ground, but as they attempted to place her under arrest, she resisted by continually attempting to pull away from their control, officers said.
Johnson was eventually taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault on police, defiant trespass, obstructing a governmental function and resisting arrest, police said.
