At 8:30 a.m., the 63-year-old crossing guard was hit by a 4-door white sedan on West 56th Street and Avenue C in Bayonne, police said. The crossing guard fell onto the hood of the car before falling to the street, police said. The driver stopped his vehicle and assisted her to the sidewalk before leaving the scene toward Jersey City, police said.
The crossing guard complained of back pain and was taken to an area hospital, police said. Officers said they are continuing to investigate the crash and did not have further information about the driver and the vehicle.
