Driver Seriously Injured In Route 17 Crash A driver sustained serious head and neck injuries Friday afternoon when his Mini Cooper veered off the highway and slammed into a retaining wall on Route 17. The driver was taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood following the crash shortly after 1 p.m. at the corner of Summit Avenue and the southbound highway. The victim was stopped in traffic on Grove Street near Prospect Street last week when a vehicle driven by Samone T. Wade, 30, rear-ended him, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. Wade took off before responding officers arrived, but by then the victim had collected information about her vehicle, Ackermann said. A passenger escaped injury after the Infiniti slammed into the pole in the 1600 block of Kipp Street. The Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps took the driver to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening. A tow truck removed the sedan.
