A storm that swept through much of the region left thousands without power Sunday, Aug. 13. Winds left a path of destruction from Berks County, PA, northeastward into parts of northern New Jersey Saturday, Aug. 12, the National Weather Service said. Probable Tornado Touched Down In Camden County
A probable tornado touched down in South Jersey early Thursday, June 9, according to the National Weather Service. Trees fell on several homes in Camden County due to strong winds, authorities said. Residents of Blackwood and Gloucester Township reported widespread storm damage due to the possible tornado. At approximately 5;17 a.m., Gloucester Township police received several 9-1-1 calls by residents that were reporting storm damage to their homes. The National Weather Service has confirmed seven tornados touched down in New Jersey and Pennsylvania Wednesday night in the remnants of Hurricane Ida. The NWS is still working on completing its surveys of the heavily-damaged areas. As of Thursday, 23 people had died due to the storm in New Jersey, Gov. Phil Murphy said. Two tornadoes have been confirmed as touching down in parts of Pennsylvania, the National Weather Service said. An EF-1 tornado was confirmed in Bucks and Montgomery Counties early Thursday. The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down in Lehigh County during Thursday's storm -- making that the eighth across New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania. Homes and businesses across New Jersey and Pennsylvania were destroyed following a quick-hitting storm that ripped across the area Sunday evening. "Several wind damage reports were received and focused mainly along the I-95 corridor, including some measured wind gusts in the 60 to 70 mph range," the National Weather Service said. A small tornado was to blame for the damage done in one Montgomery County town on Monday, the National Weather Service confirmed. Winds up to 70 mph came with the EF-0 storm that tore through a 100-yard path across Montgomeryville in approximately one minute's time. Rockland Man, 71, Falls Nearly 20 Feet From Ladder Helping Mahwah Friend After Storm
A 71-year-old Rockland man trying to help a Mahwah homeowner remove a tree branch from his roof following Tuesday’s storm lost his balance and fell nearly 20 feet off a ladder, authorities said. The victim, from Spring Valley, was conscious and alert but had a large cut on his forehead when officers arrived at the Wyckoff Avenue home shortly after 8 p.m., Mahwah Police Chief Stephen Jaffe said. Tropical Storm Isaias wreaked havoc across North Jersey Tuesday, leaving more than 1.3 million homes and businesses without power. The worst part? Restoration could take days, Gov. 21 Vehicles Destroyed In Ridgefield Fire
Live wires temporarily kept firefighters from dousing flames that destroyed 21 vehicles on a lot off Broad Avenue in Ridgefield. A wire downed in Thursday night's storm ignited two vehicles in the depot, filled with hundreds of new vehicles, next to Metro Fuel on Hudson Avenue near H Mart, authorities said. Thousands of Sussex County residents woke up without power Tuesday following the start-of-the-month snow storm. Widespread outages from the storm left approximately 24,000 Sussex County residents and 4,800 Warren County residents in the dark Tuesday morning, JCP&L's website said.
