Man Who Punched Police Officers Breaking Up Brawl In Newark Captured 2 Days Later: Cops
A 31-year-old man has been arrested for punching police officers breaking up a brawl in Newark, authorities said.
Khalil Cuttino, of Phillipsburg, had been wanted for aggravated assault on police officers in connection with the Friday, April 12 incident, and was taken into custody on Sunday, April 14, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said.
Officers responded to the 300 block of Clinton Avenue for a man with a handgun around 5:10 p.m. Friday, where a large crowd had gathered, Frage said.

A Hudson County corrections officer is accused of shooting his lover and another woman dead Tuesday night in Newark, authorities said.
Police found Anna Shpilberg, 40, of Randolph suffering a gunshot wound at Edison Place and Bruen Street around 9 p.m., Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said.

Authorities are asking the public's help in locating a deaf man from Newark who was reported missing Dec. 7.
Segundo “Cuba” Aponte, 81, was last seen Nov. 26, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said in a release.
He lives on South 18th Street and frequently visits the 100 block of Roseville Avenue, Ambrose said.
Aponte is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs about 175 pounds, Ambrose said.

Arrest Made In Newark Hit-Run That Killed Ohio Man, 43, Parking His Car
A 30-year-old Union man was arrested in Saturday evening's hit-and-run crash that killed a 43-year-old Ohio man.
Jarell L. Patterson, 30, was charged with vehicular homicide in with the death of Ray D. Horace, 43, of Youngstown, Ohio, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said Sunday.
Horace was struck by Patterson while getting out of his parked car near Lyons and Schuyler avenues around 7:15 p.m., authorities said.
Patterson continued driving but was eventually pulled over by Hillside police, Ambrose said.

A New Jersey corrections officer is among four men charged in the killing of a 30-year-old Newark man.
Al-Fatin Grant, 22, of Newark, was arrested May 5 in the March 27 shooting death of Michael Wyche, 30, of Newark, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said Tuesday.
