Two $10K Mega Millions Tickets Purchased In Central Jersey
Two lottery tickets worth $10,000 were sold in Middlesex and Monmouth counties, officials said.
The winning Mega Millions tickets were purchased in the drawing on Friday, Sept. 6, the New Jersey Lottery said in a news release on Monday, Sept. 9.
The winners were sold at the E-Z Chek food store on Main Street in Sayreville and the ShopRite supermarket on Route 35 in Hazlet.
The winning numbers were 6, 23, 41, 59, and 63. The Mega Ball was 25.

Two NJ Powerball Players Win $150K, Nine Win $50K
Eleven New Jersey Lottery tickets matched four of the five white balls and the Power Ball drawn on Monday, Oct. 31, winning the $50,000 second-tier prize.
Two of those tickets were purchased with Power Play, multiplying the prizes to $150,000.
The Powerball jackpot now rolls to $1.2 billion for the next drawing to be held Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 10:59 pm.

Longtime NJ Police Communication Officer Stole, Resold More Than $250K In Equipment: Prosecutor
A 21-year New Jersey police department communications officer was charged after allegedly stealing more than $250,000 worth of equipment and shipping it countrywide for personal gain.
Eric Coran, 41, of Medford, was charged with second-degree official misconduct, multiple counts of theft, criminal computer activity and impersonation, and second-degree money laundering, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said in a joint release on Friday, August 12.

Central Jersey Native, Beloved Dad Dies Suddenly, 38
Central Jersey native and beloved father Douglas Maurice Verschelde died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Jan. 19. He was 38.
Verschelde grew up in Medford before moving to Point Pleasant, where he lived at the time of his death, his obituary says.
A member of Five Alive Bassmasters, Verschelde loved fishing and working on his boat.
Verschelde was also an avid softball player and Scudz Sports teammate, his memorial says.
Above all, Verschelde is remembered for embracing his role as a loving father to his young daughter, Angelina LaChappelle, who was his “greatest joy in life.”

Lancaster Native, South Jersey Resident Mark Mattson Dies, 44
Lancaster, PA native and Medford, NJ resident Mark Mattson died on April 22, 2021.
He was 44 years old.
A lifelong athlete, Mark was raised in Medford and as an adult enjoyed playing sports with his father, his obituary says.
Working in culinary arts brought him "tremendous joy and pride," particularly cooking for friends and family, his obit reads.
Mark is survived by his parents, Roger and Elizabeth; siblings, Lisa (Tom) Eastep and Jennifer DiGennaro; nieces and nephews Ellie and Tyler Eastep and Olivia and Luca DiGennaro along with relatives, friends and countless loved ones.

'We Need More Men!': NJ Activist, Correctional Officer Among Latest Charged In Capitol Riot
A South Jersey mom who’s become one of the most recognizable “Reopen New Jersey” activists and a Monmouth County correctional officer were among the latest people charged with the riot at the U.S. Capitol building earlier this month.

New Jersey drivers' prayers have been answered.
Staring Monday, Nov. 2., the following Motor Vehicle Commissions centers will be by appointment only:
Cherry Hill, Hazlet, Jersey City, Lakewood, Manahawkin, Medford, Somerville, Springfield, Turnersville and Wallington. No walk-in customers will be accepted at those locations.
