Two juveniles were arrested and charged after trespassing at Bloomfield High School on Wednesday, Sept. 11, causing a lockdown. Bloomfield High School was placed on lockdown after law enforcement was notified of two juveniles within the vicinity of the high school, Bloomfield police said in a release. The city's government, police department, and school district agreed to put an officer in each K-8 school and two officers in Atlantic City High School throughout the 2024-25 academic year, the city said in a news release. A 37-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Route 17 in Bergen County on Tuesday, Sept. 10, police said. Police responding to multiple 911 calls of a motorcyclist down on the southbound side of the highway near the Essex Street ramp in Maywood found the operator unresponsive and not breathing just before 10:30 a.m., Maywood Police Detective Sgt. A 34-year-old Elizabeth man was sentenced to 25 years in state prison on Friday, Sept. 6, after he bludgeoned a woman to death in 2022, authorities said. Newark Man Struck By Vehicle In Linden: Police
A 63-year old Newark man was struck by a vehicle in Linden on Tuesday, Sept. 10, authorities said. The crash occurred at midnight on the 1700 block of Route 1, Linden police said in a release. A 2018 Honda CRV was traveling southbound when it collided with the man, police said. The man was treated on scene and taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. At 4:38 a.m., police responded to the 400 block of Washington Street and located the man who had been shot, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. A man was found dead inside a vehicle in Newark on the afternoon of Wednesday, Aug. 21, authorities said.
