Predator Who Drove 2,700 Miles For Sex With Jersey Shore Girl, 14, Busted When He Returns: Feds
A predator from Louisiana who drove 2,700 miles roundtrip for sex with an underage Jersey Shore girl was captured when he flew back for more, federal authorities said.
Spencer William-Wayne Caudle, 34, began grooming the 14-year-old victim through the Whisper app in April, a complaint on file in U.S. District Court in Trenton alleges.
Although he expressed concern about ending up on TV's “To Catch a Predator,” Caudle drove to Toms River and “committed sexual acts on the victim” on May 27, U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Philip R. Sellinger said.

Distressed Kayaker Rescued By Contractors Performing Bridge Work In Ocean County
Two bridge workers are credited with the swift rescue of a kayaker in distress.
The contractors, Randolph Fuson and Charles Baldwin of IEW, were performing maintenance on Tunney Bridge when they noticed an overturned kayak and looked to see if anyone was near, Toms River police said.
They heard someone yelling for help and provided a life vest and life ring to the kayaker, holding the rope to keep him in sight until additional help arrived.
On Friday, Feb. 24, at 3:16 p.m., police, fire, and EMS units were dispatched to assist the "boater in distress."

Family Of Chinese Nationals Killed By Red Light-Running Driver In Toms River: Police
A family of three Chinese nationals were killed when the Maryland driver of the car they were in ran a red light in Ocean County, authorities said.
Tina Dung, 21, was stopped for the traffic light, but then went through the red signal and collided with a Legacy Towing flatbed wrecker heading east on Lakehurst Road around 12:25 a.m. Friday, July 22, Toms River police said.
The three passengers in Dung’s car, all citizens of China, were killed as a result of the collision. They included a 54-year-old man, 52-year-old woman and 23-year-old man, all from the same family, police said.

A 35-year-old Ocean County man was charged with theft by deception for home contracting, authorities said.
On Thursday, June 23, Toms River Police Detective Robert O’Neill arrested and charged Robert Cohan, of Lakehurst, with theft as well as multiple counts of unregistered home improvement contracting, police said.

A man learning how to ride a Harley Davidson motorcycle was killed in a crash, authorities said.
Nicholas Cacciapaglia, 24, of Toms River died after trying to ride the motorcycle in Ocean County Motorsports parking lot, Toms River police said. (Ocean County Motorsports did not own the motorcycle and they were closed at the time of the accident.)

Asbury Park Teen ID'd, Charged With Shooting Near Brick High School
An Asbury Park teenager has agreed to be prosecuted as an adult in last year's shooting outside an Ocean County high school, authorities said.
Alonzo Legrande, who is now 18, was charged as an adult on Thursday with four counts of attempted murder and weapons charges, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.
Legrande was 17 when the crimes occurred, Billhimer said, and as a juvenile offender, his name was not released. But he has voluntarily waived Family Court jurisdiction, the prosecutor said.
