Family Plans Lawsuit After NJ Transit Train Operator Killed By Fallen Tree
The family of the New Jersey Transit train operator killed by a fallen tree is planning to sue several organizations for negligence, an attorney said. Jessica Haley of Levittown, Pennsylvania, was identified as the person who died in the crash, according to a news release from the Anapol Weiss law firm on Thursday, Oct. 15. Lucas Schwartz, 12, was identified as the victim of the Eldridge Avenue incident in Lawrence Township on a GoFundMe page. A New Jersey Transit train struck a car on the Jersey Shore, authorities said. At 7:32 a.m., North Jersey Coast Line train 3224 crashed into the car at the Bethany Road crossing in Hazlet. The car's motorist was not hurt. No injuries were reported to the approximately 150 customers or the crew on board at the time. A 24-year-old man from Ireland was struck and killed by a New Jersey Transit train in Spring Lake last week, authorities said. Anthony Mulhearn, of Mulinavat, Ireland, was in the U.S. on a visa staying in Spring Lake when he was hit by a North Jersey Coast Line train at about 11:50 p.m. Thursday just south of the train station. 6 People Hurt When NJ Transit Bus Is Rear-Ended
Six people including the driver were injured when a New Jersey Transit bus was rear-ended by another vehicle, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17 on bus route 508 at Atlantic and Chelsea avenues in Atlantic City, according to Jim Smith, a NJ Transit spokesman. The bus was stopped when it was struck from behind, Smith said. Twelve people were on board. Five riders plus the driver claimed minor injuries and were taken to the hospital, Smith said.

The crash involving Gladstone Branch Train 440 occurred just before 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, July 27 in Far Hills, NJ Transit officials said.
