A Manalapan man was accused of driving with a suspended license during a crash that killed a bicyclist in Holmdel, authorities said. John Baradekji, 28, was charged with third-degree operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license while being involved in a fatal crash, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said in a news release on Thursday, Oct. 24. 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘: A 70-year-old former New Jersey Boy Scout camp employee admitted secretly recording videos of children using bathrooms there, federal authorities said. William Mickel was employed by the Boy Scouts of America in Morris County when he trafficked videos and still images of child sex abuse via email, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said. A former employee at New Jersey Boy Scout camps secretly recorded videos of children using bathrooms there, federal authorities said. William Mickel, 69, of Lake Hopatcong, was originally arrested by local authorities on child porn charges, but the FBI assumed jurisdiction and gathered evidence that led to an indictment returned by a grand jury in U.S. District Court in Newark. NJ Catholic Diocese Agrees To Pay Record $87.5M Cash Settlement To 300 Child Sex Abuse Victims
The Catholic Diocese of Camden has agreed to pay an unprecedented $87.5 million -- in cash – to 300 survivors of child sex abuse. The average payment to each of the survivors comes to roughly $290,000, plus whatever is later obtained from the southern New Jersey's diocese’s insurance companies, under the proposed bankruptcy settlement. Former River Dell HS Swim Team Captain Dies Of Stroke
A sophomore college student from River Edge died after suffering a stroke. Nick Myers, set to graduate Loyola Maryland in 2023, was hospitalized with a brain abscess after suffering the stroke. He died on March 16, according to a news release from the university. Nick served as captain of the River Dell High School swim team and enjoyed playing lacrosse. He had been involved in Boy Scouts of America and worked as a lifeguard at the River Edge Swim Club.
