Grammy-nominated DJ Steve Aoki revealed he spent part of his childhood visiting his father in Bergen County during a Monday, June 22, appearance on "Armchair Expert" with Dax Shepard and Monica Padman.
Aoki, 48, who is playing in Atlantic City on July 3, spoke about his father, Rocky Aoki, the founder of Benihana, and the family story behind the restaurant empire.
According to Aoki, his father came to the United States from Japan in 1961 after a wrestling injury ended his career. He spoke no English and had no money, Aoki said.

The names of the three people killed in a Maryland plane crash over the weekend have been identified.
Yoav Bomrind, 26, of Israel, was identified as the pilot, according to Maryland State Police. The two passengers were David Rabinovitz, 19, of Israel, and Elad Neidik, 20, of Canada. All three were pronounced dead at the scene Sunday, June 21.
The single-engine Piper Cherokee was traveling from Ocean City, NJ, to Montgomery County Air Park when it went down for unknown reasons at approximately 11:30 p.m., according to Maryland State Police.

Clive Davis, the record executive and producer who helped launch and shape the careers of Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Whitney Houston, Aerosmith, Earth, Wind & Fire, and many others, died on Monday, June 22, at age 94, according to multiple reports.
Davis died at his home in Manhattan after a hospitalization for respiratory issues, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Two women were killed in a hit-and-run crash while crossing a Newark street Saturday night, authorities said.
Mariana Elizabeth Valverde Beltran, 58, of Elizabeth, and Maria Isabel DeLosAngeles Salgado Ayala, 61, of Newark, were struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Park Avenue and North 7th Street at approximately 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, according to Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II and Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda.
