The warrant was issued after Joseph A. Colaizzi, the defendant in a prior case, allegedly failed to appear in court to answer the charges against him on July 12, according to officials.
In the prior incident, Colaizzi had been charged with criminal contempt in the second degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh arrest, both misdemeanors, police report.
Colaizzi voluntarily surrendered to the Yorktown Police Department and was arrested on Tuesday, about 5:45 p.m., according to officials.
During processing, it was discovered that the Westchester County Department of Public Safety also had a bench warrant for Colaizzi, police report.
Following processing, the defendant was arraigned and released on his own recognizance; he is scheduled to reappear in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, Aug. 16, according to officials.
After his arraignment, Colaizzi was turned over to the Westchester County Department of Public Safety, police report.
