“While the original goal was to have the structure up in time for last month's Grange Fair, a few unexpected complications with the architectural plans and the required town permits delayed the start of construction,” said David Humphrey, Grange Fair spokesperson.

The barn is called "Jerry's Building” and will be constructed in the memory of Jerry Mulcahy. Mulcahy, who died in 2004, was involved in the Yorktown Grange for more than 40 years and was a director of 4-H, a youth development organization. He had several leadership positions, including chairman and secretary of the Yorktown Grange Fair Association, as well as chairman of the flower show for the annual fair.

There was July 20 dedication ceremony at the site of the barn. The structure will be home to the fair’s flower exhibits, as opposed to the tents used in previous years. Humphrey said he expects the barn to be ready by November.
