Spano said he's still hopeful to have lawmakers agree to pick up most of the cost of the 13-year, $2 billion capital improvement plan to repair Yonkers public schools. He said it would be similar to capital improvement projects in which the state participated in Rochester, Syracuse and Buffalo, reports lohud.com.
Though it is not in the budget for the coming year, which starts April 1, Spano said he and Yonkers-area lawmakers are hopeful to get an agreement in place before the end of the session on June 16, according to lohud.com.
