Amar Bell of 256 Woolworth Ave. was accused on April 12, 2011 of becoming irate during an interaction with an employee of the Games and Wireless store, located at 18 Main St. in Yonkers, and intentionally slashing the employee across the face with a knife, the DA said.  The victim had a large wound from the corner of the mouth and across his cheek that caused profuse bleeding, the release said.

Bell fled on foot from the store after the slashing, the DA said, adding that video surveillance from the store captured the incident. Police located him in New Rochelle and arrested him on April 26, 2011, the release said.

“In an instant, a disagreement over an electronic device led to the permanent disfigurement of a 27 year old man. This defendant has had both legal and mental health issues for most of his adult life and because of his violent actions in this case, he will be spending much of his future in prison,” said District Attorney Janet DiFiore in a statement.

Bell was convicted by a Westchester County Court jury of first-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession, both felonies.

His sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 17.  He faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison.
