Robert W. Buchanan, 85, Of Yonkers, Retired Police Sergeant

YONKERS, N.Y. - Robert W. Buchanan, a lifetime Yonkers resident, died Sept. 11. He was 85.

Buchanan was born May 29, 1928, in Yonkers, to Hugh and Helen Buchanan. For 26 years he was a Westchester County police officer, retiring as a sergeant. After retiring he was then employed in security at the Loral Corp. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Buchanan is survived by his children, Robert H. Buchanan, Laurie (Mark) Garson, Debra Cerini and Karen Silvestri; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Frances E. (Barbarita) Buchanan; brother, Thomas Buchanan; and sister, Helen (Betty) Harty.

Calling hours are Sunday, Sept. 15 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave. Funeral service will be held Monday, Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. followed by interment at Mount Hope Cemetery.
