YONKERS, N.Y. Nora Costello, a longtime Yonkers resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 4. She was 81.
Born June 13, 1931, in Ardskeamore, County Galway, Ireland, she was married to Anthony Costello. She was a longtime assistant at St. John the Baptist Church rectory in Yonkers.
Costello was predeceased by her husband. She is survived by three sons, Luke, Malachy and Raymond Costello; three daughters, Kathleen (Alexander III) Carver, Bernadette (Louis) Presta and Maureen (Craig) Dorney; three daughters-in-law, Linda Costello, Dorinda Costello and Jennifer Costello; and 15 grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Joe Kelly, and a sister, Bridie Connelly, both of Ireland; and a sister-in-law, Christine Costello of Tuckahoe.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at F. Ruggiero & Sons Funeral Home in Yonkers. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.
