YONKERS, N.Y. Marie Green Scavarelli, a longtime resident of Yonkers, died Sept. 10. She was 88.
She was born Sept. 27, 1923 in Yonkers, the youngest daughter of Henry Green and Margaret O'Neill Green. A breast cancer survivor, Scavarelli worked as an inspector in the lithography department at Commercial Decal in Mount Vernon for more than 30 years.
She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Matthew Scavarelli; four brothers and a sister. She is survived by a son, Matthew M. Scavarelli, of Centerville, Mass.; a daughter, Jeanne LaSage, of Watertown, N.Y.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Balsamo-Cordovano Funeral Home in Carmel. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, American Cancer Society or Beacon Hospice Palliative Care of Cape Cod.
