YONKERS, N.Y. Jean Oppedisano of Yonkers died Wednesday, July 18, after a prolonged illness. She was 79.
Oppedisano was born July 11, 1933, in Gioiosa Marina, Calabria, Italy, to Frank and MariaRosa Ali. She emigrated to the U.S. in 1948 with her family and attended Yonkers schools. She worked as a dress operator and home maker.
She is survived by her husband, Cosimo; two daughters, Theresa (Sal) Ferrera and Silvana (Hank) McAllen; two sister, Assunta Fazzolari and Josephine Oppedisano; a brother, Frank Ali; and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Lina Femia and Esther Ali Femia.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at F. Ruggiero and Sons Funeral Home in Yonkers. A Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann's Church in Yonkers. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Yonkers.
