Adele Matte, 81, Former Yonkers Nurse

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Adele Cazzaniga Matte of Hastings-on-Hudson died at her home on June 15. She was 81.

Matte worked as a registered nurse at St. John's Riverside Hospital in Yonkers for many years.

Born Nov. 10, 1930, she lived in Yonkers before moving to Hastings-on-Hudson in 1960. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and the Cochran School of Nursing. In 1953, she married George Matte at Holy Trinity Church in Yonkers. 

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, George; three daughters, Marianne, of Standish, Maine, Judith (Alan) Sanseverino, of Hastings-on-Hudson and Elizabeth (Peter) DiRenzo, of Sleepy Hollow; a son, James (Juliet Pennington), of North Attleboro, Mass.; a daughter-in-law, Maureen, of Rochester, N.Y. and 11 grandchildren. She was predeceased by thee children: Robert, George Jr. and an infant son, John. 

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Whalen and Ball Funeral Home in Yonkers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew's Church in Hastings-on-Hudson. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
