For those wondering where to unload the prickly pines, the City of Yonkers has announced it will recycle all Christmas trees left on the curb by residents.
Beginning Jan. 7 and lasting through Jan. 11, residents can leave trees by the roadside and city crews will collect them for recycling. Officials warned that all decorations including ornaments, lights, tinsel and garland must be removed.
Residents can also bring their trees directly to the Yonkers Organic Yard at 610 Nepperhan Ave. for recycling.
In the meantime, Yonkers firefighters warn not to leave the dried-out trees in the home or garage as they can be a fire hazard.
