Red Cross Responds to Fire In Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y.-- The Red Cross is providing temporary housing, food and referrals for the 17 adults and two children displaced by the fire at 22 Pier St. in Yonkers.

The fire started at 20 Pier St. and spread next door. It took firefighters nearly an hour to get the fire under control, according to LoHud.com.

Six Red Cross volunteers were on the scene to meet the residents immediate emergency needs.

The fire was one of two fires in Yonkers onTuesday. There was another blaze on Manhattan Avenue in the afternoon. 

LoHud reported the two Yonkers fires left a total of 22 people displaced.
