Glynwood is a working and teaching farm that promotes the Hudson Valley in all its splendor. Glynwood’s Vision “ A Hudson Valley defined by food where farmers prosper, food entrepreneurs succeed, residents are nourished and visitors are inspired” is completely in line with what I have been working to promote for the past 32 years.

At the Farm Gala, Glynwood president Kathleen Frith presented their 2015 Harvest Award to NY Presbyterian / Hudson Valley Hospital for its Harvest for Health initiative.

Accepting the award, John Federspiel, the hospital CEO, spoke passionately about promoting and teaching children and the community about the benefits of healthy eating in our daily lives.

The Harvest for Health initiative ay NYP/HVHC has included a farmers market on the grounds of the hospital, bringing in a new food service provider, Cura Foods with an emphasis on locally grown sustainable products used in the hospital food service, as well as establishing the Peter X. Kelly Teaching Kitchen and its young chefs program.

I was proud to be one of the guests at an event that drew more than 300 attendees, gathered to support the work of Glynwood Farms and to eat locally sourced foods, drink valley produced beers and spirits, bid on fabulous Hudson Valley experiences and line dance to the music of a local band.
