NY Pet Stores Face Deadline To Halt Sales Of Dogs, Cats, Rabbits Retail pet stores in New York will soon be prohibited from selling dogs, cats, or rabbits under a new state law aimed at ending the abusive practices of puppy mills.  Starting Sunday, Dec. 15, pet stores across the state must cease all sales, leases, or transfers of dogs, cats, and rabbits, New York Attorney General Letitia James announced on Friday, Nov. 22. New York State Police said 41-year-old Christina LaValley and 42-year-old John Paul Barton, both residents of Parish in Oswego County, were arrested on Sunday, Aug. 7, and charged with four counts of animal cruelty. Driver Hits Horse On Roadway In Westchester A horse was killed after being hit by a vehicle in Northern Westchester. The crash took place late Monday, Feb. 17 on Route 121 in Bedford when the horse had gotten loose and was in the roadway, said the Bedford Fire Department.
