21-Year-Old Busted On Weapons Charges After Attempting To Evade Cops In Westchester, Police Say
A 21-year-old man who was able to temporarily evade police to avoid a traffic stop is facing a host of charges after being busted with an illegal gun in Westchester, police said.
In New Rochelle, police detectives stopped a driver on Beechwood Avenue at approximately 10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2 for a vehicle and traffic violation.
According to New Rochelle Police Capt. J. Collins Coyne, the driver, city resident Shawn Gilchrest, fled from the detectives during the traffic stop, leading to a short chase that was quickly abandoned.

Suspect Nabbed After Police Sergeant Dragged During Traffic Stop In Hudson Valley
A New York State trooper was injured when he was dragged by a vehicle he had stopped for a traffic violation in the Hudson Valley.
Sergeant Gregory Lischak was injured in Dutchess County around 1:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 16 during the stop on Route 9G in Rhinebeck.
A preliminary investigation determined the driver, Nicolas Antunano, age 23, of Poughkeepsie, was wanted on an outstanding warrant, said Trooper AJ Hicks.
While attempting to take Antunano into custody, Antunano abruptly drove away from the scene, dragging Lischak, he added.

A controversial councilman in the Hudson Valley has been arrested for goading police into arresting him after he was stopped for running a red light.
Orange County's Omari Shakur, age 65, a city of Newburgh councilmember, was arrested Thursday, Aug. 5, when he refused to show his identification and said to the trooper, "(Expeletive deleted) you, arrest me," during the traffic stop, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
Nevel said Shakur has exhibited anti-police behavior in the past, and for "some reason doesn't think he has to show identification or cooperate with the police."

Man Drove Drunk At More Than Twice Legal Limit In Hudson Valley, Police Say
New York State Police arrested a Connecticut man for alleged drunk driving after being stopped for a traffic violation in Rockland County.
Samuel Johnson, 32, of Hamden in New Haven County, was arrested around 10:20 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 5, on I-87 in Clarkstown, said state police.
One stopped, troopers found that Johnson was intoxicated and performed a blood alcohol test which showed that he was allegedly driving at twice the legal limit at 0.21 percent, state police said.
Johnson was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and was turned over to a sober third party.

Woman Stopped In Harrison Following Brief Police Pursuit Charged With DWI
New York State Police arrested a woman in Westchester following a brief pursuit after she was stopped for multiple traffic violations and alleged DWI.
Idalisa Roman, 40, of the Bronx, was arrested around 12:10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 2, after state police attempted to stop her vehicle on I-287 in the town of Harrison, said the state police.
Roman failed to comply, and a brief pursuit ensued. Once the vehicle stopped, it was determined that the driver, Roman was intoxicated, state police said.
