Barricaded Suspect Taken Into Custody After Standoff At Westchester Residence: Police A suspect has been taken into custody after barricading themselves into a Northern Westchester residence and making threats of harm, police said.  The incident happened on Wednesday, Sept. 13, when a person in Yorktown at a residence on Sandpiper Court made threats of harm and claimed they had access to weapons, according to Yorktown Police Chief Robert Noble.  Authorities then limited access to Sandpiper Court out of an abundance of caution and told residents on Maple Brook, a neighboring road, to shelter in place as police attempted to bring the incident to a safe ending.&n…

Pursuit Leads To Standoff With Armed Driver In Westchester This story has been updated.  A vehicle pursuit in Northern Westchester eventually led to a long standoff with an armed driver that caused a busy road to close for hours, police said.  The incident happened in Yorktown on Friday evening, April 14 around 7:10 p.m., when state police were called to the Taconic State Parkway for a report of a man driving north with a possible firearm. Hours-Long Standoff Ends In Suicide In Area A tense hours-long standoff ended when an area resident with a rifle killed himself. Putnam County Sheriff Robert Langley, Jr. said the incident unfolded around 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 23,  when the town of Kent Ambulance along with the EmStar medics were dispatched to Pudding Street in the Town of Putnam Valley for a man with chest pain.
