New Superintendent Named At School District In Westchester
After a six-week nationwide search process, a school district in Westchester has named a new superintendent who will be arriving from a district in a neighboring state. The Mamaroneck Union Free School District has named Charles B. Sampson as its next superintendent, the district's school board announced on Tuesday, June 13. When he begins his position on Wednesday, Nov. 1, Sampson will replace Robert Shaps, who will be retiring in December 2023, district officials said. The Westchester Board of Legislators has elected a new chairman after his predecessor resigned following a scandal involving a former county staffer trying to meet with who he thought was a 14-year-old girl. Vedat Gashi, a Yorktown resident who represents Legislative District 4 encompassing Yorktown, New Castle, and Somers, was unanimously elected as Chairperson of the County legislature on Monday night, May 15, the legislature announced. New Superintendent: School District Expected To Approve Contract In Westchester
A school district in Westchester is about to officially approve its next superintendent. The New Rochelle Board of Education is expected to approve a three-year contract with Corey Reynolds effective on Saturday, July 1 during their meeting on Tuesday night, March 14 beginning at 7 p.m., the city's school district announced. A longtime Northern Westchester resident and retired teacher has died at the age of 79. Elaine Kelleher, a 50-year resident of Katonah, died at her home while surrounded by family on Saturday, Aug. 13, following a brief illness, according to her obituary. She was born in Jersey City and studied at St. Dominic’s High School and Seton Hall University, her obituary said. There's a new police chief in Rockland County, a man who has served as a police officer in the Hudson Valley for more than 34 years.
