One That Got Away: Man Fishing From Cape Cod Beach Hooks Great White Shark A Massachusetts angler was in for a major surprise when he hooked a great white shark while fishing in Cape Cod. Matt Pieciak posted a video of the moment on his Instagram page, writing: "A Great White Shark steals the fish off our line at Nauset Beach, Cape Cod." NBC Boston reported that the 25-year-old was fishing with friends on Sunday, Aug. 8, when he saw the rod start to bend. He said his cousin captured video as Pieciak tried to reel in the shark. Pieciak told the news station he never imagined he would see a shark so close to the shore. Watch the video of the moment here.

A witness saw Holowach swimming off the shore of Bailey Island in Harpswell, Maine, when the attack happened, the Maine Marine Patrol said. A great white shark has been tracked in the Long Island Sound off the coast of Fairfield County. Videos: Great White Caught Off RI Coast During 'Shark Week' "Shark Week" took a very real turn for a fisherman in Rhode Island. A 6-foot great white was captured at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Sunday by a fisherman off the coast of Rhode Island, according to a social media post by Michael Lorello. The shark was corraled approximately three-quarters of a mile off Miquamicut Beach. Lorello posted pictures of the shark on Facebook, showing it on a bed of other fish as it flopped about. “He’s still alive,” he can be heard saying in the videos, before releasing the shark back into the water.
