Scammer Poses As Victim's Friend, Asks for $15K, Gets Arrested Instead In Westchester: Police A would-be scammer who posed as a victim's friend and asked for over $15,000 in bail money in Westchester was instead met at their door by detectives who quickly arrested him, police said.  The incident happened on Thursday, April 20, when a New Rochelle resident received a call from someone who was claiming to be a friend in jail who was in need of bail money, according to New Rochelle Police.  The resident then received a second call from someone claiming to be from a "public defender's office," and that they needed over $15,000 in bail money to free the "friend."  The wou…
