The child and his mother vanished in early February from a temporary housing facility in Westchester County, the Westchester County DA's Office said on Tuesday, March 4.
Investigators from the DA’s Office immediately launched an extensive search effort, working around the clock to track the child’s whereabouts.
Authorities eventually traced the child to his maternal grandmother’s home in Queens. Officers found him dirty but otherwise in good health, and he was taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla for a precautionary evaluation.
Meanwhile, the child’s mother and her boyfriend were taken into custody on multiple outstanding warrants for larceny charges, the DA's Office said. Their names and more details about their arrests were not released.
"I am relieved to hear that investigators from my office located this child and that he was found in good health," said Westchester DA Susan Cacace.
