WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. Buoyed by last weeks first victory of the season and the return of running back Darrell Everett, the White Plains Tigers fought off a stubborn Suffern team to post a 20-17 victory Thursday.
Tigers quarterback Jeff Avery ran for a touchdown, and Everett, who missed last weeks game recovering from a concussion, also scored a touchdown for the Tigers (2-2), who opened the season with two losses before winning two straight.
I felt great playing, Everett said. This was my first time really being healthy all season, so it was great to go full blow and be able to get a huge win that keeps our playoff hopes alive.
Adrian Clinton intercepted a pass in the third quarter to stop a Suffern drive and Tim Hodges recovered a fumble that led to the Tigers winning touchdown in the fourth quarter.
White Plains will host Yorktown (3-2) Saturday at 7 p.m. with hopes of keeping their playoff hopes alive, as will the Huskers.
