The Yankee legend, who lives in White Plains, was on hand at the Steiner Warehouse at 10 Cedar Street in New Rochelle where people came to bring in supplies and meet the future Hall of Famer. Evelyn Lozada of "Baseball Wives" also participated in the effort.

"Wonderful job today,” Rivera said. “People were coming and giving. That is what we want, we want people to come and give."

Lozada, whose parents are from Puerto Rico, said she was glad she could help out.

Supplies still being accepted include bottled water, non-perishable food, toothbrushes and toothpaste, medical supplies (band-aids, aspirin, alcohol and hand sanitizer), soap, feminine hygiene products, batteries, and portable lamps. Signs at the dock to direct fans will read Steiner Sports Natural Disaster Supply Drop Off.

The effort continues Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
