Yonkers resident Paul Overton, 36, has been sentenced to a term of five years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision after being found guilty by a jury of assaulting a corrections officer, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced.
According to Scarpino, on July 19 last year, Overton assaulted the correction officer at the jail. After failing to comply with orders from other guards, Overton “intentionally caused injury to the officer by punching, biting and struggling with him.
In January, Overton was convicted by a Westchester County jury and convicted of second-degree assault. He had faced a maximum term of up to seven years in prison after being jailed for promoting prison contraband three years ago.
