Prescription Drug Prices Twice As High For Americans Than Europeans

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. — A new report from the University of Liverpool says that American cancer patients are paying more than 600 times the European price for certain prescription drugs, the Huffington Post reported.

The drugs in question are known as tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), pills with fewer side effects than chemotherapy treatments.

Pharmacologist Andrew Hill found that European prices can range from over $150 to $4,000 per person, compared to a range of $75,000 to $100,000 per person in America, reported the Huffington Post.

Hill will present his findings in full this week at the European Cancer Congress in Vienna.
